The wind is howling and the rain could not be any rainer. So far, its like any other St Patricks day. Except that there are no parades and we are all sat in doors. Being heros by doing so. Looking after our fellow human in so small an act.

It is so surreal to think of all that is going on with the Virus. Instead we are choosing to think of happier times that will induce all the positive vibes. We hope to post a bit more over the coming days of all the wonderful elopements and weddings across our beautiful land. Right now maybe you can not get here in person, but virtually we can transport you to the emerald isle.

Kicking off the start of our posts is the sensational Johanna and Alex. Both of whose smiles are infectious. The couple flew all the way from Portland to the Kingdom of Kerry to say their vows! Now, this had us pretty mind blown as the scenery in Portland and up and down the west coast of the states is with out doubt exceptional. That was,  until we drove to the little know Uragh Stone Circle. Yes, all Outlander fans, is it just as you imagine. Yes, I did have a moment which Sean laughed at. We were just spell bound by the Stones hidden in a valley surrounded by lakes and waterfalls.

Fast forward to the morning of the elopement. It’s a balmy over cast morning. We catch up with couple in Sheen Falls, another hidden gem of a venue in Kerry. Audrey squeals as we enter the room. Johanna smiles her beautiful smile and thats it. I’m off talking a mile a minute, falling more in love with this moment. Sean is in the other room with Alex, it dawns on me after a bit that he is next door a bit longer than usual. Of course lads being lads they are having a great old time.

Now I dont know if it was because I was heavily pregnant, but the day just flew. One minute we are like a bunch of school girls howling with laughter in this sumptuous suit and next I am waltzing to the swooshing of Johannas dress as she skips through the hotel and down to the water to the first look. Then begins the drive to the main event at Uragh Stone Circle. The sun shines its brightest. Like sunscreen bright! Durring the ceremony a tourist finds her position behind myself and Sean and records for the event for her mother.  From my view point she can not possibly hear what Louis or the couple or saying. Mutter gets a running commentary regardless.  They both cheer when the couple kiss! I like that about elopements and weddings, everyone likes to celebrate love. Strangers or not, love gives hope and spreads joy.

Alex and Johanna had said that they wanted some beautiful pictures and were willing to hike up mountains and walk for any length to get them.  Now, given we were in quite simply, a photographers dream location… you would have thought we would have been out for hours, exploring every nook and cranny, taking multitudes of images. In the end it is more about the couples connection than it is the scenery. Our couple had this in abundance. That sun was still high in the sky as well don’t forget. When I mentioned heading for some light refreshments everyone agreed.

We headed straight to The Horseshoe pub in Kenmare. A dreamy little place, full of characters. The landlord ushered the pair around the bar to pull their first pints. I’m not sure if Johanna and Alex were old hands at this but they did a very good job. We spent ages laugh and chatting swapping stories about our cultures and heritage. By the time the whiskeys were poured my face ached from so much belly laughter. I am fairly sure that if baby bear wasn’t on the cards myself and Sean probably would have booked into Sheen Falls ourselves to continue the merriment.

We sincerely hope that once travel bans are over and all is well with the world again that our party will indeed continue.
