“And this is the potency a first kiss should have: it should be earned. The moments leading up to it should be as tense as a crossbow drawn back. The reader should want it as badly as the hero and heroine, and feel as satisfied and transported and transformed as the hero and heroine in the wake of it. There are different ways to use kisses in a romance, but that first kiss is so meaningful, a pinnacle.” ⠀⠀

Well, the sunset kiss they shared in the dunes may not have been their first kiss, but it was no less wonderful when eventually, it happened. Elizabeth and David drove from Dublin to the wilds of Kerry to steel a romantic night away for themselves. Elizabeth wrote ~ “I’d love to surprise him with an up to date shoot of the both of us.” How romantic is that? Sure, we couldn’t say no to an intimate couple shoot on the beach, at sunset. However, on the evening in question Storm Brian graced us with winds speeds 55 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h.  Which was a little unexpected!

So there we were, just us four, taking shelter in the dunes, screaming at each other over the wind. Trying our hardest to up against the gusts of wind, while busting our sides laughing at how ridiculous this scenario was.

“David give Elizabeth a wee kiss on the forehead” screamed Sean…. I could see David struggling to hear and mouthing “Whaaaat?” So Sean repeats himself. Only this time LOUDER… in the deafening vacuum of where the wind once was! Queue that romantic sweet moment being shattered by everyone’s giggles.  A few minutes later despite the laughter and Brian battering us, Elizabeth and David shared a kiss, which was in the was well “earned”.

A team decision was made to put safety first and also that some hydration wouldn’t go astray so it was off to the pub with us all to take shelter from the storm that ripped across the country. It was a storm that most will remember with sadness due the carnage it created. Still, we will always look back and smile with the memories of these two wonderful souls who managed to create their own magic in the eye of the storm.
